Cathy Grasso
Cathy Grasso grew up in upstate NY and attended SUNY Cortland where she earned a bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental Science. She worked for two years in environmental consulting until she decided to go back and pursue a Master's Degree in Biology. While working and applying to graduate school, she started a job as a teacher's aid for at-risk students. She loved the job and decided to get a teaching credential instead. She later earned a Master's Degree in Education with a focus on improving literacy across the curriculum. She has taught in every setting imaginable including public school, private schools, and juvenile detention centers. Her favorite thing about teaching is the students and she feels that she learns at least as much from them as they do from her. One concerning thing she has witnessed over her 22 years of teaching is the sharp increase in mental health issues that teens are experiencing today, (particularly, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideology, and eating disorders.)
In her spare time she loves to volunteer in animal rescue, hike, take long walks, cook and spend time with her friends - trying new vegan restaurants is her favorite past time.
